CAITLIN'S

PORTFOLIO

"Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing." - President Roosevelt

Check out the work I've had the privilege of working on throughout my career in public health.

Public Health

I began my public health career as a Disease Intervention Specialist in Monroe County, IN where I conducted case investigations for STDs and HIV. I spent a few years as boots on the ground in both rural and urban areas. I worked at Marion County Bell Flower STD Clinic before being promoted to the STD Program as a Program Specialist for the state. I was soon promoted to lead the statewide STD Prevention Program at the Indiana State Department of Health, overseeing a multimillion-dollar portfolio and a team dedicated to reducing the burden of STDs across Indiana. During my tenure, I played a key role in responding to the historic Scott County HIV outbreak, the largest in the state’s history, working alongside public health leaders such as Dr. Jerome Adams, who later became U.S. Surgeon General. Nationally, I served on the Board of Directors for the National Coalition of STD Directors, ultimately becoming Board Chair in 2020, where I helped shape policy and strengthen prevention efforts across the country.

Federal Contracting

In addition to my leadership experience, I have built an accomplished career in federal contracting, developing communication products and strategies for agencies such as SAMHSA, CDC, CMS, NIH, and the Office on Women’s Health. My portfolio includes toolkits, technical reports, SOPs, newsletters, campaign content, and digital applications—all written in plain language and designed for accessibility and impact. I have managed national awareness campaigns, redesigned mobile apps, and produced training and presentation materials for diverse audiences. Across each project, I ensured content aligned with agency missions and compliance standards while effectively reaching stakeholders and the public.

Volunteering

Outside of my professional career, I am an active volunteer in my community. For the past three years, I have served as a Girl Scout troop leader, guiding a lively group of Daisies and Brownies through service projects, leadership activities, and skill-building opportunities. Under my leadership, the troop organized a book drive that collected and donated more than 350 books to Riley Children’s Hospital. Beyond Girl Scouts, I support local schools and community events by designing promotional materials, managing communications, and helping spread the word about programs and festivals that bring people together.
